The work.
Three projects, each shown in full rather than as a single finished photograph. What the site demanded, what went in before anything was visible from the street, and what the rooms look like now.
Akopi Builders has been building in Los Angeles since 2014, owner-led, licensed under CSLB #1112420. The work falls into four kinds, and the filter below sorts the list by them.
- Custom homes
- Ground-up builds, often on hillside and canyon lots where the structure below grade is the larger half of the job. Bel Air is one of these: a canyon lot under the hillside ordinance, taken from raw slope to a finished house.
- Remodels
- Whole-home work taken back to the frame and rebuilt to the architect's drawings, kitchens and baths included, structure included. Santa Monica is one of these, built around a steel moment frame that made the openings possible.
- Outdoor living
- Pools and spas, pergolas, fire lounges, hardscape and planting, run as one scope instead of four trades booked separately. Arnwood is one of these, photographed from the first trench through to the finish.
- Wellness
- Saunas, steam, cold plunge and recovery rooms built into the house rather than dropped beside it. These case studies are being photographed now; the wellness page covers the work until they land.
Where we build
Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica and Calabasas, and the canyons in between. Hillside lots are a specialty here rather than an exception, which is why so much of the work on these pages happens before the framing starts.
