A high-end primary bath in most of LA typically costs $50,000 to $100,000, and a luxury primary suite in Beverly Hills, Bel Air or Brentwood $120,000 to $250,000 and up. Construction takes about 6 to 12 weeks. One team handles the design, the permits and the build.
What we remodel
A bathroom contractor for the whole room.
Akopi Builders plans, permits and builds high-end and primary bathrooms. You deal with one team from the first visit to the last fixture, not a designer, a plumber and a stone shop that each blame the other.
- Layout
- Keep the shower, tub and toilet where they are, or move them. We price both, with every surface the move disturbs.
- Showers
- Walk-in and curbless showers, benches, niches and linear or center drains, waterproofed and flood tested before tile.
- Stone and tile
- Marble, quartzite, travertine and porcelain, as slab walls or tile, with the fabrication and install priced together.
- Vanities
- Custom vanities, stone tops and integral sinks, planned with the plumbing so the drain lands where the sink does.
- Heat, light and air
- Radiant floor heat, lighting, mirrors and a fan sized to the room. The circuits are planned with the layout, not after.
- Steam and wellness
- Steam showers, and a sauna or cold plunge next to the bath, built by the same crew.
Cost
What a high-end bathroom costs in Los Angeles.
A mid-range bathroom typically costs $30,000 to $50,000. A high-end primary bath in most of Los Angeles runs about $50,000 to $100,000. In Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Brentwood, a luxury primary suite with stone slab walls and steam typically runs $120,000 to $250,000 and up: access, parking, traffic and older houses add time and cost to every day on site.
Moving fixtures moves the number most. Other builders put a toilet moved 18 inches at $9,000 to $12,000 and a shower moved three feet at $12,000 to $18,000, before any stone is chosen. Keep 10 to 15 percent in reserve, and 15 to 20 percent in an older Beverly Hills home.

Showers, permits and time
What happens behind the walls.
The part of a bathroom you never see decides how long the part you do see lasts. The shower is framed, the bench and niches blocked in, the drain set and the floor sloped, then waterproofed and tested before any tile or stone goes on.
In the City of Los Angeles, a vanity replaced in the same place usually needs no permit. Moving a drain or a supply line, even a few inches, is new plumbing that needs a permit and an inspection. Construction takes about 6 to 12 weeks, after about 4 to 8 weeks of design, selections and permits.

Questions
Bathroom remodeling questions.
- Who does luxury bathroom remodels in Bel Air?
- Akopi Builders remodels and builds luxury bathrooms in Bel Air, including primary suites with stone slab walls, walk-in showers and steam. The photos on this page are from the primary bath of an Akopi Builders custom home in Bel Air, under construction. A luxury primary suite in Bel Air typically runs $120,000 to $250,000 and up. High-end bathroom costs.
- Who does high-end bathroom remodels in Beverly Hills?
- Akopi Builders is based in Beverly Hills and remodels high-end bathrooms there and across the Westside. Beverly Hills runs its own building department, and we file with it. Access, parking and older plumbing are why a Beverly Hills bath costs more than the same bath elsewhere in LA.
- Who remodels primary bathrooms in Brentwood?
- Akopi Builders remodels primary bathrooms in Brentwood. Brentwood is part of the City of Los Angeles, so permits go through LADBS. A luxury primary suite in Brentwood typically runs $120,000 to $250,000 and up.
- How much does a high-end bathroom remodel cost in Los Angeles?
- A mid-range bathroom in Los Angeles typically costs $30,000 to $50,000. A high-end primary bath runs about $50,000 to $100,000, and a luxury primary suite in Beverly Hills, Bel Air or Brentwood $120,000 to $250,000 and up. Keep 10 to 15 percent in reserve, and 15 to 20 percent in an older Beverly Hills home. Read the bathroom cost guide.
- How long does a bathroom remodel take?
- Construction takes about 6 to 12 weeks: about 6 to 10 weeks with layout changes, and 8 to 12 weeks for a full primary bath with marble slab walls and custom cabinetry. Design, selections and permits add about 4 to 8 weeks before that.
- Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel in Los Angeles?
- Usually, if anything moves. In the City of LA, replacing a vanity in the same place usually needs no permit, but relocating a drain or supply line, even a few inches, is new plumbing work that needs a permit and an inspection. New circuits need an electrical permit. We pull the permits.
- Can you turn a bathtub into a walk-in shower?
- Yes. Most tub-to-shower conversions move the drain and need new waterproofing, a new shower floor sloped to the drain, and often new framing for a bench or niche. Moving the drain means a plumbing permit. A curbless shower also needs the floor dropped or built up so water stays in the shower. We price keeping the drain against moving it.
- How do I choose a bathroom contractor in Los Angeles?
- Check the license on the CSLB website. Ask who does the waterproofing and how it is tested before tile. Ask for a written quote with the stone priced as fabricated and installed, not as an allowance, and for the permits in the scope. Ask who runs the job day to day.
